Hi there, Face here! We've had some updates to the FAQ recently, so we're going to leave a note here.

The edits are regarding parentage and power selection.

How do I choose a parent for my character?

Look at what makes your character your character, and find a deity that fits them as a person. Any powers they may have had in their home worlds belong to that world - they don't necessarily have to match up with the deity you pick for a parent. Rather, look for basis in the personality, their acquired skills and their interests, and go from there. Many characters will have more than one deity they fit with, but that's nothing to worry about, there's no need to look for the 'one and only' fit. Rather, we're looking for an understanding of what the god or goddess you're choosing for your character stands for, and an explanation why this fits the character you're applying for. Find something that links the deity to the demigod.

Are there any I can't choose?

Yes. Namely, the Titans. All of the Titans have either faded, or have been killed inasfar as that is possible, or have been locked very thoroughly away. As such, they're not really up for producing children.
And then there's the virgin goddesses, Artemis and Hestia, and Hera, the goddess of marriage, because they don't go around having affairs with mortals.

What kind of powers can my character have?

Children of the Olympians have example powers that they can choose from on the cabins lists, but! it isn't just limited to that. If you can find a power that connects with a god, you're free to use it, so long as you can find a way to connect it to said god. Again, the god--while your character may have had a certain set of skills at home, they mean very little in this world. There are a few exceptions:
No game-breaking skills are allowed. This means things like time control and mind control. Nothing that gives your character an obscene amount of power.
Pyrokinesis is also a no. Unless your character is a son or daughter of Hepheastus, and then only with good reason.
Powers that are listed as "rare" under other gods in general. If it's rare for one god, nine times out of ten, other gods aren't going to have it.
If more powers come up that seem problematic, we will update this list, but for now that seems to be it!

The other update is the addition of the Magical Items/Gifts page! Where you can link anything heroic or cool your characters have done. As a note, doing things in Capture the Flag that are cool absolutely counts. So if you have a thread of cool things, leave them there.

You can leave threads that happened before the post went up so go fill it up so I the gods can judge your achievements.
